Fortunately, for those unfamiliar with belt-fed weapons, Freedom Ordnance’s clearly written operator’s manual and online videos provide must-have information and tips for new owners. More Detailsīecause the FM-9 is belt fed, loading and clearing won’t be intuitive to people used to magazine-fed rifles, so be mindful to follow the instructions precisely or you could damage the unit. Adding a complete lower receiver, a holographic sight and 150 rounds of ammunition makes for a hefty package that almost necessitates a bipod or tripod mount. The FM-9’s sturdy construction is evident in its unloaded weight of 7 pounds. The FM-9 functions on semi-auto and select-fire lowers, though slight modification might be needed to function with drop-in auto sears. The FM-9 mounts to the lower receiver using the standard two pushpins, and the only additional step required to get it ready is to insert a block into the magazine well, which holds the ejector. Freedom Ordnance recommends (and my testing confirmed) that Winchester and Tula 115-grain FMJs shoot reliably, but cast-lead and lower-powered loads should be avoided. One of the FM-9’s best attributes is its preference for economically priced ball ammunition. However, buying the belt linker, which loads 15 at a time, is money well spent. The reusable links are made of heat-treated steel, and the detachable ammunition bag holds 150 rounds. The FM-9 is blowback operated, fires from a closed bolt and feeds from a disintegrating link belt housed in a nylon bag under the gun. The FM-9 works with mil-spec AR-15/M16 lower receivers without any modification. ![]() This company isn’t afraid to be all American, and I felt welcome there. You have to remember to bind the event handlers. You have to understand how this works in JavaScript, which is very different from how it works in most languages. In addition to making code reuse and code organization more difficult, we’ve found that classes can be a large barrier to learning React. We’ll discuss this more in Using the Effect Hook. You may also opt into managing the component’s local state with a reducer to make it more predictable. To solve this, Hooks let you split one component into smaller functions based on what pieces are related (such as setting up a subscription or fetching data), rather than forcing a split based on lifecycle methods. However, that often introduces too much abstraction, requires you to jump between different files, and makes reusing components more difficult. This is one of the reasons many people prefer to combine React with a separate state management library. In many cases it’s not possible to break these components into smaller ones because the stateful logic is all over the place. This makes it too easy to introduce bugs and inconsistencies. Mutually related code that changes together gets split apart, but completely unrelated code ends up combined in a single method. However, the same componentDidMount method might also contain some unrelated logic that sets up event listeners, with cleanup performed in componentWillUnmount. For example, components might perform some data fetching in componentDidMount and componentDidUpdate. Each lifecycle method often contains a mix of unrelated logic. We’ve often had to maintain components that started out simple but grew into an unmanageable mess of stateful logic and side effects. Complex components become hard to understand We’ll discuss this more in Building Your Own Hooks. This makes it easy to share Hooks among many components or with the community. Hooks allow you to reuse stateful logic without changing your component hierarchy. With Hooks, you can extract stateful logic from a component so it can be tested independently and reused. While we could filter them out in DevTools, this points to a deeper underlying problem: React needs a better primitive for sharing stateful logic. If you look at a typical React application in React DevTools, you will likely find a “wrapper hell” of components surrounded by layers of providers, consumers, higher-order components, render props, and other abstractions. But these patterns require you to restructure your components when you use them, which can be cumbersome and make code harder to follow. If you’ve worked with React for a while, you may be familiar with patterns like render props and higher-order components that try to solve this. React doesn’t offer a way to “attach” reusable behavior to a component (for example, connecting it to a store). It’s hard to reuse stateful logic between components Whether you’re learning React, use it daily, or even prefer a different library with a similar component model, you might recognize some of these problems. ![]() Hooks solve a wide variety of seemingly unconnected problems in React that we’ve encountered over five years of writing and maintaining tens of thousands of components. If you just want to start learning Hooks, feel free to jump directly to the next page! You can also keep reading this page to learn more about why we’re adding Hooks, and how we’re going to start using them without rewriting our applications. As we will show later, Hooks also offer a new powerful way to combine them. Instead, Hooks provide a more direct API to the React concepts you already know: props, state, context, refs, and lifecycle. Hooks don’t replace your knowledge of React concepts. ![]() You can read more about the gradual adoption strategy for Hooks in the bottom section of this page. There are no plans to remove classes from React. Hooks are now available with the release of v16.8.0. Hooks don’t contain any breaking changes. But you don’t have to learn or use Hooks right now if you don’t want to. You can try Hooks in a few components without rewriting any existing code. React Native has supported Hooks since the 0.59 release of React Native. When upgrading, don’t forget to update all packages, including React DOM. React 16.8.0 is the first release to support Hooks. On this page, we’ll continue by explaining why we’re adding Hooks to React and how they can help you write great applications. You can start learning Hooks on the next page. That $2 price is from their own web site, however I found other numbers on other sites that track pricing. This might bring price down from $5-$6/TB/month for inexpensive traditional storage such as Backblaze B2 or Wasabi, to $2/TB/month, however cryptocurrency (and possible speculation) is typically involved. In the realm of emerging technologies that try to undercut traditional cloud storage from companies that purchase their own drives, there’s decentralized storage such as Sia, Storj, and others that rent storage from those who have extra, and resell it (in a more presentable more-available form) to those needing it. I don’t know if this fits your usage pattern, and it can be tricky.įilter: older than x days would help with this plan, but such a filter isn’t built-in yet, so you use scripting… Possibly this would work poorly with VM images anyway (scattered changes). Some people also try to divide backup source based on use, to try to get online backup of changed files, while letting old files get a different backup. There’s also a question of how much of the 10TB backup you want to lose at once if the backup breaks. This would probably be best done by dividing your 10TB into smaller chunks, one per destination, which would be good anyway because a single 10TB backup with Duplicati might call for special care such as Choosing sizes in Duplicati so that performance (including that of recreate) doesn’t die from the scaling. If online doesn’t work, maybe a carry-it-yourself rotation of 2 or 3 drives to friend or future job would do?
